A blackhead removing tool (found in the beauty supply aisle) or a common bobby pin can often be used to remove blackheads. There is also a lower risk of scarring that with the traditional squeezing method.
Center the opening on the blackhead tool (or bobby pin) over the blackhead and push down. This will bring the blackhead to the surface. This is much more effective than squeezing, which often pushes the blackhead back down.
Cleaning with a good astringent, such as Sea Breeze, or with rubbing alcohol or 3%hydrogen peroxiode (less than a dollar for a large enough bottle to last at least a month) will help keep your skin free of the dirt and oil that causes the blackheads.
You may still get blackheads, but you will get fewer.Blackheads?

Also, look up 'blackhead remover' on eBay for some cheaper options.
Finally, there are those blackhead removers you can buy at the drugstore...those metal things that look like needlepoint tools...you risk infection and scarring with those however.

Most people don't know how to use the little metal blackhead removers. The are about 2 inches long and have a section at each end that resembles a spoon with a hole in it. The holes are different sizes. They are used on blackhead that are not infected. Do not use on pimples. To use one, pick the hole that is closes to the size if the blackhead, place the flat side ot the spoon like part agains you skin so the blackhead is centered in the hole, and press firmly against the skin. Do not slide the tool around as it can cut you. The core should pop out.
The adhesive strips and waxing kits work well, and there area number of other devices,
However the best way is to alter your diet to reduce the amount of oils and fats that you eat. This will not prevent them completely, but will often reduce the occuranceand severity of them.
I like using the strips on my nose (Ponds, Biore, etc) but really all you can do is keep your face clean and don't pick.
